Discover Our Journey: From the Streets to the Stage
The mission of Street 2 Stage is to raise awareness about youth homelessness through the transformative power of music, particularly hip hop. Our values are rooted in empowerment, education, and community building.
Empowerment
We aim to empower young individuals, especially those with lived experiences of homelessness, by providing them with platforms to share their stories and talents. Through mentorship and support, we help them realize their potential as leaders and advocates for change
Education
Street 2 Stage is committed to educating audiences about the realities of youth homelessness and the systemic issues that contribute to it. Through our performances, workshops, and outreach initiatives, we seek to spark conversations, challenge stereotypes, and inspire action.
Community Building
We believe in the power of community to create lasting change. Street 2 Stage fosters connections between individuals, organizations, and communities, working collaboratively to address the root causes of homelessness and support those affected by it.
Artistic Expression
Hip hop is more than just music—it's a cultural movement that gives voice to the marginalized and disenfranchised. Street 2 Stage celebrates artistic expression as a means of empowerment and advocacy, using hip hop as a tool for social change.
Social Justice
At the core of our mission is a commitment to social justice. Street 2 Stage advocates for policies and practices that address the underlying issues of homelessness, inequality, and injustice, striving to create a more just and equitable society for all.
Our Process
Street 2 Stage employs a collaborative and inclusive approach to achieving our mission. We engage stakeholders at every level, from artists and educators to community members and policymakers, to ensure that our initiatives are informed by diverse perspectives and rooted in the needs of those we serve. Through ongoing reflection, evaluation, and adaptation, we continuously refine our strategies and practices to maximize our impact and effectiveness.
We design and deliver a creative learning and development model to support young people at risk of experiencing homelessness to build their enterprising skills through creativity and music.
In partnership with Futureskool Of Music our workshops and programs have lead to studio collaborations with small groups of young people affected by homelessness to tell their stories through music.
The latest result was a funded and self produced album from the streets of Sydney featuring OE, Busky, Fletch, Frank White, Supernal, Tyson, Lazy Dre, Emma Foster and more inspiring and incredible voices. Check out the album below !
Last year Street 2 Stage delivered workshops alongside 5 participants under 25 years old who have experienced some form of homelessness. We mentored and empowered these young people to teach songwriting to schools and youth centres in our state.
